RSR partner announces liquor referendum expands potential of township real estate

Sleepy’s in Bloomsburg

Upper Allen Town- ship, PA — The passage of a liquor-sales referendum by Upper Allen Township voters could revitalize real estate sales in the growing municipal- ity, according to a partner with RSR, Realtors . With liquor sales now pos- sible in Upper Allen restau- rants, the Lemoyne-based realty firm sees new life for township properties, including a nearly 3-acre tract at U.S. 15 and Cumberland Parkway now primed for a restaurant catering to diners who enjoy a drink with their meals. Upper Allen currently has about 1,100 townhomes and single-family homes under construction or approved, ac- cording to township director of Community Development Jennifer Boyer. The vote to allow liquor sales complements Upper Allen’s growth trend, said James Koury , partner in Lemoyne- based RSR, Realtors. “It’s going to be a good as- sortment of entry-level town- houses and larger single-fam- ily homes,” said Koury. “It’s going to be across the gamut. What the retailers are looking for is the number of rooftops and the number of people.” Township residents often ask why they don’t have broader choices in restaurants, said Boyer. The referendum results could make Upper Allen more attractive for liquor-serving establishments. “Hopefully, that opens up a little more variety in the area,” she said. The site at Cumberland Parkway, convenient from the Pennsylvania Turnpike and near hotels and a Cracker Barrel restaurant, has proven its commercial viability, said Koury. n
