Junior Outdoor Journey Date : June 29-30 Age Level : J The Junior Outdoor Journey is rich and exciting badge program as it covers a lot of essential outdoor skills. You will enjoy primitive camping, cook entire meals right over a campfire, then take part in a Service Project to give back to Camp Prairie Schooner. Location : Camp Prairie Schooner (15300 Ess Rd, Kansas City, MO 64136) Cost : $65 Campfire Cinema at Camp Prairie Schooner Date : July 12 from 7pm-10pm Age Level : D B J C S A Join us for a cozy night under the stars at Campfire Cinema, where the magic of movies meets the beauty of the great outdoors! Bring your own camp chair and settle in for an unforgettable evening at one of our camps. With the crackling campfire nearby and the fresh night air, you’ll enjoy a feature film on the big screen surrounded by nature. We’ll provide the popcorn and drinks, included with your ticket, to complete the perfect outdoor movie experience. Children’s Garden Date : June 21 from 10am-12pm Age Level : C Come relax in the shade of our many fruit trees. After learning all about trees and what they can provide for us, use your detective skills to identify which tree is which by their leaves. It’s harder than you’d think! Finish the day by designing your own tree house and tree garden, and by doing a tree craft with all-natural materials. Location : Kansas City Community Gardens (6917 Kensington Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64132) Cost : $18 Clinton Lake Kayak Excursion Date : June 24 from 10am-12pm June 24 from 1pm-3pm Age Level : J C S A Enjoy a beautiful day on the water at Clinton Lake! Review the basics of how to paddle, control your craft, and general kayak safety. Then, join lifeguard and small craft safety-trained staff and explore the lake! Experiencing a loss often brings up powerful and complicated emotions. To help children ages 5-14 deal with the unique feelings following a loss or life change, the Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri and Saint Luke’s Home Care and Hospice are offering a special day camp June 13- 14th at Camp Tongawood. The camp is designed for kids who’ve experienced a loss or change, such as a death of a loved one, a divorce in the family, moving, the death of a pet, losing a home, a serious illness in the family or changing schools. Campers will learn different ways to express their feelings of loss and to remember a loved one or a life change in a celebratory way.
