Ken McNabb , a lifelong horseman from the Wyoming - Montana border , has dedicated his life to the art of horsemanship . Raised among wild horse herds , Ken developed an early and lasting understanding of equine behavior and instinct . At just 15 years old , he began training horses and apprenticed under renowned Colorado horseman John Lyons , an experience that helped shape his thoughtful and effective approach to working with horses . Today , the McNabb family ranch operates in north central Wyoming , not far from the town where Ken was born and raised . The ranch focuses on raising quality beef cattle and producing dependable saddle horses built for both the ranch and the arena . The goal is simple : to ride , train , and represent some of the finest horses in the country . Over the years , Ken has refined his horsemanship through countless hours in the saddle , earning recognition as a respected leader in natural horsemanship . He shares his knowledge through clinics , equine expos , horse shows , instructional programs , and his television series Discovering the Horseman Within on RFD - TV . In addition to teaching , Ken is also a competetive horseman , having participated in prestigious horse - starting events such as the Road to the Horse .
