sion for us” with God the Father. To day, right now, while you are reading these lines, our Saviour is interceding for all of us. How vitally we need this. Our thoughts and our words are not always right. We don’t always do the proper things. Some of the imaginations of our minds we would never want others to discover. He is our Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. Since He is praying for us, we should be concerned about furthering His business down here. What a privilege this is. The only way we can accom plish it is by giving ourselves to prayer. That is the only sure way for personal victory and contentment. There are some people who don’t pray until they get into bed. No soon er have they started than they are fast asleep. About the only prayer some people pray is as shallow as the fa miliar “Now I lay me down to sleep.” Prayer is communion with God. I do it frequently while riding along in the automobile. I t is wonderful that any where and anytime we may talk to our blessed Lord. Have you noticed that in the Lord’s prayer the first three petitions are about God and His glory while the other three are about us and our needs? It is first His glory and then our needs. This should also be our pattern. We need to tell God that we are interested in His business which is the salvation of souls. There are so many people in need that we shouldn’t have trouble think ing of them. Our problem is that we are usually too pre-occupied with our own desires which are often very sel fish. Give yourself to prayer and find out what it means to have real fel lowship with God. Don’t make it spas modic but regularly as you go about the affairs of your life. Don’t use the foolish excuse, “I’m too busy.” A life which is in intimate relationship with God will be victorious and tri umphant. * * * Christians without crosses are like swords without blades. 18
be able to do that which is really important. The Lord Jesus gave Himself to prayer. Several times He prayed all night. He met with His heavenly BEYOND RECALL I dreamed 1 heard the quitting bell of time, And ail the wheels of life slowed down and stopped. I crossed the threshhold of my Fa ther's house With all the clinging soot and smirching grime Of earth forever washed away. I sat down In His beautiful abode To feast upon the bounteous meal prepared; While others of the household, who had ceased Their labors earlier than I, came near Each glad to know that my work day of life Was done, and I was home to stay. And I rejoiced In their glad company, And In the love of my dear Father, too. But more than all this sight, In fellowship With my own blessed Saviour, wno for me At one time sacrificed His life. But though the rest and peace of this bright home Were mine forever, I some way could not Forget that nearing my short day of work, An hour had been Idly spent. I asked my Father If I might not leave The joys and fellowships of this glad place.
