NEW MADD STAFF: REE FORD VOLUNTEER RESOURCES SPECIALIST
Greetings everyone! My name is Ree Ford and I’m excited to join MADD Upper Midwest as the new Volunteer Resources Specialist. I was born and raised in Minnesota and did my undergrad at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities with a Bachelors in English Literature and minors in teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) as well as Asian Languages and Literature. My background in TESL led me to explore the world of volunteerism and after graduation I chose to do a year of service through AmeriCorps at my local food pantry. My service project focused on building capacity within the pantry's volunteer program and from there I began to have a greater love for working with the community to help others. After my service year, I continued my work in the realm of volunteer management as a Volunteer Coordinator and have also volunteered as a trainer for the Minnesota Alliance for Volunteer Advancement's (MAVA) Volunteer Impact Leadership Training, which is a program meant to train those new to the field of volunteer management. I am in love with all things related to storytelling – books, plays, movies, television, as well as writing my own stories! I’m also a big family person and am incredibly blessed to live near my parents, grandparents, and siblings so I can visit them often. I consider myself a mission-driven person and look forward to working for an organization that’s so long-standing and dedicated to saving lives.
You and our many other volunteers are the lifeblood of MADD—full of passion and compassion for our mission. We value your commitment and connection to those we couldn’t save, to those we have, and to those we can. The Advisory Board provides the framework and support for MADD in our region to grow and serve more victims and prevent these 100% preventable crashes. The Advisory Board is designed not only to provide strategic leadership and guidance to local MADD programs and services, but also serves to build capacity through increased volunteer activity and revenue generation.
