HERE ’S THE SO-CALLED GOSPEL DOZEN”

Who go out from the Evening School of thè Bible Institute and endeavor to min men to Jesus Christ. * * * A fine soul-winning spirit pervades the large groups o f evening students, but these- boys have banded together.

to. Three found discouraged people and began to talk encourag ingly to them and finally led them to a decision for Christ. Three started a conversation through handing a person a gospel tract. This-led to a conversation and to a decision. One met a person in a restaurant, another in a store, another asked a man to ride in his auto. One man asked for money and was led out to decide for Christ. One had his watch stolen; he went to a pawn shop to look for it, and met the pawn broker. In conversation, he turned toward personal salvation. This led to a decision to accept Christ. One helped a blind man across the street. Another through se rious illness of the party made an opening for conversation, which resulted in conversion. A lady started to talk about a false cult and this made the occasion for winning that lady to Christ. One fellow was placing refrigerators. His firm sent a helper with him. Down under the floor of a building where they were fixing a drain pipe, all cramped up in a small space, they worked. Their conversation drifted into personal salvation through faith in Christ. The student-refrigerator-man led his helper to accept Christ and the two back under this floor engaged in prayer. In what multitudinous ways God is working today, “For I will work a work in your days ."'" „ W ORD has just reached us of the death of Mrs. W. P. Nicholson, who has been with her husband in his cam paign in Ireland. Mrs. Nicholson was in Australia when she passed to her reward. The following letter was handed to us by Mr. and Mrs. A. Phillips, who are in Los Angeles from Belfast, Ireland. They went through the Revivals in the North of Ireland with Rev. and Mrs. Wm. P. Nicholson in 1921-S. The letter is taken from a publication, “From Civil War to Revival. Victory,” published by the Alliance of Christian Workers, Bangor, County Down, Ire land. It is in the nature of a farewell to Ireland, written by Mrs. Nicholson. “We are -soon to leave Ulster, where my dear husband and I have labored and loved for the last four years. I have counted myself happy to be engaged with him in this great work in win ning souls for Christ. I am only sorry I was not able to do more, but God knows the limitations that were put on my service. I should like to leave a short message to the dear women who have been associated with us in the work, and to those that have come into a knowledge of sins forgiven through the Mission. Deut. 8 :2: ‘Thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee.” It is well sometimes to look forward and anticipate all Mrs. Nicholson’s Farewell Letter

The Little Gospel of John Did It S EVERAL months ago M. H. Reynolds, Superintendent of our Shop Work, was led to give a certain series of messages in one of the local Shops, having as his purpose, the creating of a desire in the hearts of the men for the Saviour. At the close of one of the addresses; one of the men came up and thanked the speaker for the message and said he wished he could believe. Feeling that here was an opening, Mr. Reynolds placed in his hands a book frequently used for unbelievers' and asked him to read it, which he promised to do, Two months passed before this book was read and then he said he did not get the help he was looking for. In giving him the book Mr. Reynolds had asked him to read the Gospel of John along with it and so the man was asked if he had done this, and he said, ‘‘No, I didn’t.” This he was urged to do. Word has just come that after these months of earnest, honest concern, through the reading of the little Gospel of John, he has been gloriously saved. Truly God’s Word is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. May we ever be faithful in giving it out. Then there comes this other thought, what a wonderful investment some one made in providing, through the gift of a few cents, this Gospel of John, that this; man might be saved. May we ever be faithful! HEN Habakkuk, the prophet, through ignorance charged : God with inactivity he said, “Why dost thou show me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance?” and continues, “The law is •slack, judgment is lacking in the earth, and the wicked oppress the righteous, and where is God and what is He-doing?” Some people have this view-pf God today. Let us notice God’s answer to Habakkuk. Here it is— “Behold ye among the heathen (nations), 'and regard, and wonder marvelously, for I (God) will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you." A great many people still believe God is not working today. Let us answer this charge against God with a concrete illustra tion. Sometime ago, Mr. Pike, Secretary of the Evening School, asked the students of the Evening Department to write on a piece of paper the way they came in contact with the last soul they had the privilege of.'leading to Christ. Eight said, that by entering into the discussion of religion in general, they found one ripe to decide for Christ. Four found men and women in church service, that they were led to speak One Born Again Under the Floor W
