become stiff. Poor posture is another cause of neck pain. Sitting for long periods, staring at your computer for too long, or looking down at your phone for long periods can cause the muscles in your neck and shoulders to tighten, often resulting in pain. How is neck pain treated? Treatment varies depending on the severity of your pain and its cause. After visiting a medical professional, they could prescribe medication, steroid injections, surgery, physical therapy, or other remedies. But after you suffer from neck problems for a while, getting your movement and strength back is vital. One exercise you can do is to slowly turn your head from left to right or tilt your head to each side. Hold this pose for at least two seconds before switching sides. You can also rotate your head clockwise and counterclockwise to work all of your neck muscles. Be sure to listen to your body when doing these exercises. If you feel severe pain, don’t attempt these movements and call your health care provider for additional information. What causes neck pain? While neck pain is common and occurs in many people around the world, there are a few factors that create it. The first reason would be aging . Conditions such as osteoarthritis (wearing down of joint cartilage) and spinal stenosis (narrowing spine) can lead to neck pain as you age. Another reason could be sustaining an injury that caused neck or head trauma.

INGREDIENTS

• 1 head roasted garlic, peeled and minced • 3 cups sliced portobello mushrooms • 1 lb uncooked gnocchi pasta • Salt and pepper to taste

• ½ cup vegetable broth • 3 cups broccoli florets • 1 cup raw cashews, soaked • 2 tsp lemon juice • 1 13.5 oz can full-fat coconut milk • ¼ cup nutritional yeast

In a blender or food processor, combine cashews, lemon juice, coconut milk, nutritional yeast, and roasted garlic. Pulse until smooth. 4.
