From the wisdom of the book of Proverbs we see that as the mother and wife is faithful in her service for Christ, “her children will rise and call her blessed, her husband also and he praise th her” (Proverbs 31:28).

BEATITUDES FOR MOTHERS Sometimes it is hard to express ap­ preciation. A little boy struggled to say something he felt would show the enor­ mous love in his heart. You can ima­ gine how touched she was as the lad exclaimed, “Mommy, I love you as many times as God can count.*1 Beautiful way to think of it, isn’t it? Here are a few helpful beatitudes especially de­ signed for women: Blessed is the mother who takes the time to understand her child for she shall inherit a kingdom of memories. Blessed is the mother who knows how to comfort with God’s healing balm, far she shall possess a child’s de­ votion. Blessed is the mother who guides by the scriptural path of righteousness for she need not fear the way her children take. Blessed is the mother who empha­ sizes the good and minimizes the bad in her children, for they shall see her positive love arid affection for Christ. Blessed is the mother who teaches her child to pray when he is but a babe, for when he is old, his knee shall also joyfully bow in communion with the Lord. Blessed is the mother who keeps the lines of communication open with her children for in the time of stress she shall merit confidence. Blessed is the mother who has a heaven-sent character strong enough to withstand thoughtless remarks and re- 21

CHRIST’S COSTS Many are the grim reminders around the world of the brave men who have given their lives in defense of our coun­ try and for mankind’s freedom. As an example, over in Korea, standing con­ spicuously beside a railway track, is a large signboard. Its striking message declares, “The precious blood of gallant officers and men of the 7th Cavalry Regiment has made it possible for you to be here.” What a forceful way of letting us recall the supreme price these had to pay for our sakes! In the light of the atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ there is a striking spiritual parallel. While heaven may have no signboards, yet the believer will cer­ tainly be conscious of the fact that the precious blood of Jesus Christ makes it possible for us to be there. The divine
