calls. But, the 12% who keep on call ing, do 80% of the business. Don’t let Satan discourage you. Keep it up. The Lord will bless your efforts in visita tion. As church members, let us not leave the calling up to the pastor or to his associates. I t’s not just their job; it’8 ours, too. There’s no greater compli ment you can pay a person who has visited your church than to contact him in his own home. Ask your pastor. No doubt he’d be thrilled to have you share in this distinctively rewarding minis try. Reach others for the Lord Jesus Christ while there is still time! FADING FEARS For years travelers in the Orient have searched for the legendary abom inable snowman. His supposed existence has grown by rumor through the cen turies. This dread creature, half-man and half-beast, was supposed to have lurked among the perpetual snow-cov ered heights of the Himalayas. Those who actually had seen him never lived to tell the full story. Mystified explor ers have claimed to find scraps of hair and giant footsteps in the snow. Finally, in 1960, Sir Edmund Hillary conquered Mount Everest. In so doing the real truth was discovered. The shreds of shaggy hair were torn from passing goats on the wild brush. The large footprints were made by fast- running rabbits. Those who had har bored hopes in linking the demytholo- gized snowman to man’s animal ances try were embarrassed. The whole situa tion became a joke as the snowman melted away into the Himalayas. This illustrates how falsehood fails and truth triumphs when put to the test on the anvil of time. Yet, today, still other grim spectacles loom before us. Con sider what is perhaps the most real and dreaded of them all — death. When the believer comes to the portals of eternal life, however, he can say with the Psalmist of old, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.” He who is good at excuse* it seldom good at anything else.

How sad It is that as toon as tome people get up in the world they start looking down on it.

FAITHFUL FRUIT It is important to listen to Gospel programs; however, it is vastly more vital for every Christian to read and meditate upon the Word for himself. It was many years ago that Newfound land fishermen carried their Christian ity with them as they plied the icy wa ters between their homeland and Lab rador. Stopping in an unfamiliar port, one of them felt impelled to go ashore and see if he could gather some people together to listen to the Scriptures. Many of them listened intently for the first time. In faith the seed was planted, and God’s Holy Spirit gave the in crease. The same can happen in your life too, as you are faithful to God’s promise. Two women were saved as a result of that simple testimony. They began studying the Bible all by them selves. As a result, a mission station for fishermen was established. Today, these many decades later, an effective witness for Christ is still being given, with men and women being wonder fully saved. I f an unschooled fisherman can do this by God’s power, think how the Lord could use you if you really purposed to do His divine will! Don’t expect the Lord to give you a bigger place of service until you’ve consistently and faithfully done what you can where you are. Yes, remember, “What soever your hand findeth to do, do it with all your might.”

The secrets of the Lord are imparted to those who hold no secrets from Him.

CHURCH ATTENDANCE We never know who is watching what we do and say. Children especially are so impressionable. A little boy, who had never been to Sunday school, was invited to attend. He listened as the teacher talked about the importance of salvation. She reminded the pupils that 27
