The Lions Clubs International began championing preventable blindness when Helen Keller challenged them to take up the cause in 1925. That’s why the Cornwall Lions Club continued this esteemed tradition and recently donated $7,500 to the Cornwall Hospital eye clinic. Summer Beer Festival quickly approaching

As the second edition of Cornwall’s Summer Beer Fest is fast approaching, organizers are releasing more tickets to the public. Set to be held on July 9 at the NAV Centre, the Summer Beer Fest is an experimental marketing initiative that celebrates the city’s amazing local food scene and the region’s craft breweries. Its goal is to attract all members of the community to a unique gathering that promotes local restaurants and various regional breweries via tastings, samples, promotional materials, and one- on-one information sessions. At press time, over 1,200 tickets have been sold, matching last year’s attendance with two weeks of sales left. “The response we have seen so far from the community has been phenomenal,” said SebastienManigat, Director of the Seaway Food Festival.

“Frankly, it has surpassed our expectations! We are fairly certain that we will sell out again this year.” Officially, there will be 15 breweries, a cidery and two vineyards present. That roughly translates into over 60 varieties of beers. Furthermore, the Seaway Food Festival has worked closely with local food producers to bring a different dimension to the typical beer festival. “At the outset, this event’s goal was to showcase what’s best about our region and community,” added Manigat. “By marrying our tremendous craft beer industry and our city’s exceptional culinary talents, we believe we have achieved that.” Tickets for the Beer Festival can be purchasedonlineatwww.seawayfoodfestival. ca or can be picked up at the NAV Centre.
