NuNu Ghee is a singer, rapper, and songwriter who recently moved to Atlanta. She was born and raised in Chicago but finished her last two years of high school in Madison.Though she is most known for her trap music, her recent projects include R&B, pop, and soulful beats.

What inspired your passion for creating music? in Atlanta for about four months now and hit the ground running. I got a temporary job, got a car and a studio apartment, and am now marketing my music. When you have your eyes focused on something, there’s nothing that can deter you from that.

When I was growing up in Chicago back in 2011, the choices seemed to be either playing basketball or being a gang banger. But when drill music was first created, that became my era. Seeing the people around me make music made me think, “Okay, I can do that too.” I saw it as an outlet. Rapping opened up a new avenue and made me feel like I could do something. When did you first start pursuing music?

When I was in high school, I was known as the skinny girl who rapped. I started seeing how my music touched people. I went out to Las Vegas.That was my first time trying to pursue it, but I got caught up in some hard situations. I ended up in a relationship, and the guy I was dating shattered 40 percent of my face. I had to have total facial reconstructive surgery. A lot of people expected me to lose my drive, but I stuck with my support team and the people who cared about me and how much I touched people.That’s what got me through it.
