New Experience For years, Walker has been crafting earrings and other jewelry pieces. “It was nothing on a big scale. I would take a pair of earrings and add some beads or designs. I was always trying to find unique pieces and add to them.” She often received compliments on her fashion pieces. While she had experience making jewelry, Walker was not an expert at matching ingredients for lotions, creams and body butter. “At one point, the mixtures would come out too thin. Sometimes the components wouldn’t mix well together and would end up with large clumps because I didn’t have the proper mixing equipment. It was a lot of trial and error.” She spent the next few months researching and perfecting custom combinations. Once the mixtures were complete, she had a line of organic body products to list for sale.

MosesSista now has an array of natural products made from USDA certified ingredients like cocoa, mango and shea butters and jojoba oil. “I use those in most of my products because it replicates the sebum in your skin, doesn’t clog your pores and isn’t greasy.”Walker also sells aromatherapy body wash made with essential oils, facial serums and beard oil, all of which she makes herself. She emphasizes the importance of using organic ingredients. “The skin is the largest organ of the body, so what people put on their skin gets absorbed into their system. I want people to know that when they buy from MosesSista they’re getting ingredients they can feel confident about applying.” While Walker handles the daily operations of her business, her daughter often assists with product photography and modeling jewelry pieces for advertisements. Walker says she hopes to get her products in local salons and spas for use with skincare services. “I want people to be able to witness the benefits of these products from using them.” She believes this will show the soothing and healing effects that can come from consistently using these products. “I run this business
on the side of my full- time job, so my vision is to continue growing this so I can dedicate myself to carving out a niche for myself and getting my products into
other establishments.”
