Yet, it seems that in some countries, there is a perception of having to start new legislative or regulatory developments from scratch. Why can it be hard to integrate experiences from mature markets into the national legislative and regulatory process? Do newly created regulators end up with regulations that they themselves do not find well suited? What can industry stakeholders do to help remedy unsuitable policies or regulations?
JK: This panel is regulation from scratch, issues faced when regulating new markets and products. I’ve been a gaming attorney in Ireland for the last couple of decades and my jurisdiction is about to regulate and to get its first regulator. So I’m in the position of hoping to benefit from the experience and expertise of a wonderful panel assembled from all corners of the globe. So without further ado, I’ll ask my panel to introduce themselves. OV: Hello to everyone. I am Olena Vodolazhko. I’m from Ukraine. I am representing a very young but very ambitious Ukrainian regulator. And first of all, I want to express my gratitude for this opportunity to be here today with you and represent the Ukrainian commission. And let me extend extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who stands with Ukraine, to everyone who helps Ukrainians people in any way. Our Commission was created just three years ago.
