Personal Injury • Product Liability • Bad Drugs • Workers’ Compensation

Everyone knows and loves Popeye the Sailor Man. He is woven into the fabric of the United States since 1938. This icon even appeared in propaganda materials for the Allied Forces during WWII to boost troop morale. Not to mention his many appearances in comic books, cartoons, video games, and ads promoting various products. Let’s just try to forget shall we that awful 1980 live-action film starring Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall as Popeye and Olive Oyl. The movie was so dreadful that my family walked out and demanded our money back! At least I got to eat my Good & Plenty™. Now what in tarnation does this hero have to do with The Law Offices of Evan M. Ostfeld? Like Popeye, we use our investigative prowess, ingenuity, and successful diplomacy to come up with solutions to our clients’ legal problems which to them seem insurmountable. In that regard, my firm focuses on handling workers’ compensation and personal injury matters including those caused by defective products/drugs like Roundup, J&J Baby Powder, Zantac, and Hernia Mesh just to name a few. One of his sayings is “Ahoy!” “I yam what I yam an’ tha’s all I yam” “That’s all I can stands, ‘cause I can’t stands no more!” He then fights with a savage force and/or trickery against the likes of Brutus, formerly known as Bluto, Sinbad the Sailor, the Sea Hag, and Alice the Goon in order to protect Olive Oyl, Swee’Pea, and Eugene the Jeep.

Although we handle injury cases, I am always here to listen to any of your other legal concerns. If our firm cannot assist thee, The Referral King ® will gladly try to refer you to someone else in The Referral

Kingdom ® who may.

J. Wellington Wimpy is one of Popeye’s good friends.

He is a soft spoken and cowardly hamburger-loving moocher who would“gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.” Well, in a sense, I handle cases somewhat like that — but you cannot pay me for legal services with a hamburger even if it is from Carl’s Jr., In-N-Out Burger, Whataburger, or White Castle, as tempting as that may be, nor with spinach! Mind you that my law firm handles cases on a contingency basis. That means there are no upfront fees or costs unless there is a court award or settlement. To recap, if you need someone

Thanks for allowing us to represent you. Hopefully, we’ve earned your trust for future referrals of friends and family, even if the matter occurred outside of Florida. We are only a call, text, or email away! Referrals Welcome!

I echo that sentiment about wrongdoers. My staff and I however use legal mastery and persistence accrued over 29 years of practice to take on “Big Business” and their “evil” insurance companies who chose profit over corporate responsibility, thereby causing harm on a widescale.

to protect your rights, call us at (866) I SUE YOU (478-3968). We are here to help!

When going out to a nice restaurant, you’re paying for the gourmet food and the experience. Decor might be the last thing on your mind, however with the right design, some are absolutely breathtaking. Here are a few of our favorites.

skyline. It’s the best possible pairing with their classic Italian menu, complete with handmade pasta and high-end ingredients from Italy. Maybe that’s why Mamma Leone’s Ristorante never re-opened!

The French Laundry — Yountville, CA

Pink Cadillac Diner — Natural Bridge, VA Take a step back to the 1950s, but without Doc Brown’s Delorean! The diner’s bold, beautiful shades of bubblegum color — including a vintage pink Cadillac parked in front — prompt nostalgia and delight.

Although you cannot wash your clothes there, this restaurant offers one of the best food and

views in the U.S. Run by American chef Thomas Keller, its rustic, cottage-like setting in Napa Valley always turns

heads with its sophisticated design and exclusive tasting menus.

Accompanied with a classic burger and ice cream, this gem is a must see destination. Maybe that’s what inspired Bruce Springsteen’s song “Pink Cadillac” in 1984.

It’s gardens are beautifully lit and dotted with Japanese bonsai trees — a sight that both Mr. Miyagi and Daniel LaRosa approve of.

Cecconi’s New York City, NY There are plenty of gorgeous restaurants in the Big Apple, but you’ll always hear this place mentioned. Located in Brooklyn Bridge Park, your table might have a dramatic view of the bridge or a waterfront view of the Manhattan

Most people can have a good meal at home, so if you have the time and money, why not pay a little extra for a nice view? Go ahead and enjoy. We won’t judge, but save us some leftovers!

Got weeds? Roundup, a herbicide manufactured by Monsanto, is still the go to product to kill them. It’s chemical Glyphosate has been used to banish weeds since 1973. The company even developed crops/plants that are resistant to Roundup so they wouldn’t be harmed. Not surprisingly, for years, commercial farmers, groundskeepers, nursery/garden center workers, landscapers, and homeowners continue to apply it to get rid of unwanted vegetation. As such, people who have been exposed to high concentrations are most at risk. The main chemical in Roundup is deadly. The Internal Agency for Research states that glyphosate likely causes cancer. Roundup usage is believed to cause non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) and varying forms of blood cancers: B-cell lymphoma, T-cell lymphoma, Chronic lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL), Hairy cell lymphoma and Mantle cell lymphoma. It is interesting to note that while Roundup is banned in many countries, it is still sold here. The

litigation alleges and juries have held that Monsanto was aware of the link between Roundup and cancer for over 30 years. Since it is still the number one selling weed killer, they succumbed to greed and failed to warn the public. Profits were chosen over corporate social responsibility. There are thousands of Plaintiffs who claimed Roundup caused their cancer which has led to high-dollar verdicts against Bayer (who bought Monsanto) ranging from $80 million to more than $2 billion! The U.S. Supreme Court has just rejected the appeal so now a global settlement may be near! If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma or another form of blood cancer after being exposed to Roundup, a free consultation is offered. There are no attorney’s fees or costs unless a recovery is made. Should you qualify, significant financial compensation may be awarded; a global settlement could be soon. It’s not too late however to join the fight. So don’t delay, call us today. You have nothing to lose.

TALCUM POWDER CAUSES CANCER! Talcum powder, also known as talc is used in certain products. Unfortunately, talc-based baby powder was contaminated with asbestos which is a known carcinogen. Based upon independent research and findings from ongoing litigation against such companies as Johnson & Johnson, documents and testimony show that the manufacturers were well aware that their products caused cancer. In fact, they knew from the 1970’s of the issue, yet still failed to warn the public! Specifically, lawyers contend that ovarian, fallopian tube and peritoneal cancer are caused by its repeated use. Although the companies claim their products are safe, many are now using cornstarch instead of talcum powder as an active ingredient. Juries have already awarded billions of dollars to victims who used these talcum powder based products for at least four years as part of their feminine hygiene routine and who developed the outlined cancers. Presently there are over 35,000 plaintiffs. It’s not too late however to file a claim, but you must act fast. If you, a loved one, or someone you know has or had cancer after using Johnson & Johnson’s talc-based baby powder and or Shower to Shower, our legal team may be able to help. Significant financial compensation for injuries or death may be awarded. We offer a free case evaluation and will try to obtain your medical records. Plus there are no fees or costs unless there is a court award or settlement. Our firm is here to help!

Fresh tomatoes and basil abound in August, practically begging to become bruschetta! This recipe turns that appetizer into a main dish.

• 4 tbsp olive oil • 2 tbsp lemon juice, divided • 1/4 tsp pepper • 1 tsp Italian seasoning • 4 boneless and skinless

• 3 tomatoes, chopped • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped • Salt and pepper, to taste • 4 slices mozzarella cheese • Parmesan cheese, grated

chicken breasts, pounded to even thickness

1. Add chicken to a large resealable bag. 2. In a small bowl, combine olive oil, 1 tbsp lemon juice, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Pour over chicken and seal. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. 3. Turn a grill to medium-high heat and add the chicken. Discard the marinade. Grill chicken 5–7 minutes per side or until fully cooked. 4. Combine the remaining lemon juice, tomatoes, garlic, and basil. Add salt and pepper, to taste. 5. Before taking the chicken off the grill, top each breast with a slice of mozzarella cheese. Cover and cook 2–3 minutes, then serve topped with the tomato mixture and grated Parmesan cheese .

Setting Rules for Your Kids

Setting Rules for Your Kids As children grow older, some tend to engage in more risky behaviors. They like to test their parents’ patience and limits to see what they can actually get away with. If you establish boundaries early, it can set them up for success while teaching them a thing or two about responsibility.

Be Supportive, Not Enabling Being supportive is helping a person to do something they might not otherwise be able to do themselves, whereas enabling is stepping in and mitigating consequences that would otherwise be a result of making a “bad choice.” Enabling is an undesirable behavior that can occur when parents give in to complaints or demands to avoid a possible conflict. It’s best to support your kids while they navigate through the rules. Allow them

Impressing Your Values One cannot simply harp on the “house rules” or “it’s my way or the highway” mantra — your actions must reinforce them in order to be followed. They should also reflect the positive values that mean the most to your family. Make sure that they are precise and clear in order to communicate them effectively.

to ask questions and or make mistakes; it’s called growing pains. That way you can provide a solid framework where they have the ability to act and make good decisions independently. Setting rules and boundaries are essential tools that aid in their development. Over time, the process will help lay the foundation in becoming self-regulating adults.

Here is a list to consider:

• Positive relationships — whether that be with family members, friends, coworkers, or even strangers • Priorities — define what matters to your family first • Honesty — creating a judgment-free space to be open and speak freely • Responsibility — taking accountability for one’s mistakes • Respect — learning how to communicate boundaries effectively
