THE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF REGISTERED EQUINE MASSAGE THERAPISTS
A) DESCRIPTION
The International Federation of Registered Equine Massage Therapists has been formed to implement and enforce regulations set by the equine community, in the field of equine massage therapy. The IFREMT will ensure all practising members work within their defined scope of practice and adhere to the Standards of Practice as defined by the Federation. Institutional members will be continually informed about training requirements set by the Federation.
The Founding Board of Governors for the IFREMT is comprised of equine veterinarians, Registered (human) Massage Therapists and horse care specialists.
The IFREMT will require the following: 1. Equine Massage Therapists seeking membership in the Federation will be required to complete 2200 hours of comprehensive training at a Federation approved institution and pass a series of Entrance to Practice exams as set by the Federation. Increased public awareness of these standards will raise the image of the Equine Massage Therapist within the community. 2. All approved institutions must continue to meet the Federation requirements for curriculum standards and teaching qualifications. The Federation will regularly assess all institutions at regular intervals to ensure students are thoroughly prepared for Federation examinations following the completion of their courses.
