MISCONDUCT
PRACTICE OF THE PROFESSION AND THE CARE RELATIONSHIP WITH CLIENTS (IFREMT practices based on RHPA/MTA Part VIII S. 26, S.S 5-25)
• Contravening a term, condition, limitation imposed on the member's certificate • Contravening a standard of practice/failing to maintain the Standards of Practice • Doing anything to a client for a therapeutic, preventative, palliative, cosmetic or other health related purpose, without having received consent • Abusing a client verbally, physically • Practising while impaired by any substance (alcohol, drugs) • Discontinuing professional services that are needed unless • Requested to do so by the client • Alternative services are arranged • The client has a reasonable opportunity to arrange alternative services • The client is abusive, and the member has made all reasonable attempts to arrange alternative services • Practising while in conflict of interest as stipulated by the federation • Giving information about a client without having received their (or their representative's) written authorization (except as required by law) • Breeching an agreement with a client relating to professional services/fees • Failing to reveal the EXACT nature of a secret remedy if requested to do so by the client, client's representative or the federation • Making a claim respecting the utility of a remedy, treatment, device which cannot be supported as a reasonable professional opinion • Inappropriately using a term, title or designation, in respect to a member’s practice • Using any name other than your legal name (name as set in the register) to provide professional services • Failing to identify yourself by, name, id number upon request by a client/client representative or another equine health care professional • Failure to pay the federation any monies owed • Receiving any form of benefit from the practice of equine massage therapy while under suspension (unless prior approval is obtained from the federation) • Failing to maintain your practice in a safe and sanitary manner • Giving false, inaccurate information to the federation • Failing to reply appropriately within a reasonable time to a written inquiry made by the federation • Failing to attend an oral caution or reprimand of the complaint committee/discipline committee • Failing to cooperate with the federation regarding an inspection, examination of your office, records, equipment, or practice
