Rank the following jobs requiring the most ethical behaviour from 1-10. Number 1 requiring the most ethical behaviour, and 10 the least

Doctor, lawyer, instructor, clergy, sales staff, insurance broker, politician, bank teller, friend, and REMT

Discuss:

1. Your results and why you put them in that order 2. What do you expect in terms of behaviour from doctors, dentists, lawyers, instructors, clergy, and so on? 3. Does this differ from what you expect from your family? Friends? What about the staff at a store, a bank teller, politician, or their insurance broker? 4. How do ethics and ethical behaviours shape relationships and expectations? 5. How does people’s behaviour at their job impact people’s impression of them? 6. Do you think certain jobs require more ethics than others? Why? Why not?

• The Therapeutic Role - Code of Ethics (professional, moral, societal) • Power differential between therapist and client • Boundaries (basic awareness of transference/counter transference) • Privileged communication and confidentiality • Therapist intent, client/therapist hidden agendas • Responding (dealing with client feelings and emotions)
