Commitments to the Veterinary Profession are demonstrated by a) referring to veterinarians and accepting their direction whenever the purpose of massage goes beyond comfort, relaxation and condition of the horse; as well referring to other equine care providers when appropriate and directed to do so by the attending veterinarian.
b) advocating with all health care providers to promote and support social changes that enhance humane care of horses, and equine health and well-being.
5. Commitments to the International Federation are demonstrated by a) cooperating with regulatory functions of the IFREMT. b) contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives. c) upholding standards and guidelines of the profession.

Meaning
To be accountable to society and conduct ourselves in a manner that fosters and promotes high ethical standards.
Application Ethical practice is demonstrated by: 1. Pursuing continued career-long, professional learning. 2. Advocating for and supporting humane care of animal s and clients’ ethical and moral rights. 3. Participating in the promotion of equine massage therapy as performed by Registered Equine Massage Therapists through advocacy, research and maintenance of the highest possible standards of practice. 4. Being committed to promoting the welfare and well-being of all persons in society. 5. Committing to continuous improvement and implementation of standards of equine massage practice and education. 6. Collaborating with veterinarians and members of other equine industry professions to enhance the comfort and well-being of horses of all kinds and to meet the needs of the horse-owning public. 7. Continuing to develop ways to clarify equine massage therapist accountability to society and to the horse industry in particular.
