This year ’ s charity raffle quilts:
We have many interesting sewers in the sewing room and thought it would be fun to spotlight one each month. Our first quilter to spotlight is Carol Allen, our president. Carol lives in Draper, Utah, and has been coming to ORPS with her husband Tad since 2014, purchasing their lot in 2018. Carol has been sewing for most of her life but didn ’ t start quilting until 1999 when her 5 children became more independent, giving her more time to sew. One of Carol ’ s first goals was to make a quilt for each of her 24 immediate family including her 12 grandchildren, which she accomplished. Thanks for all your hard work in the Club Carol! On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, ORPS Quilters and Sewers will be hosting our Annual Quilt Show in the ES Ballroom. We invite all to come by between 10 AM and 2 PM to see the amazing things created by our group. Besides the works on display, there will be items for sale. Come vote for your favorites and stop for a complimentary cup of coffee and a cookie. Each year we create beautiful quilts to be raffled off at the Ladies Charity Luncheon held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Tickets go on sale at the Lifestyle Office on Friday, February 2. The ORPS Quilting and Sewing group has adopted the Shelter From The Storm, the Coachella Valley ’ s only domestic violence shelter, as a focused charity. Your support by purchasing raffle tickets helps us purchase the materials needed to make these quilts. Due to the generosity of the ORPS community, we were able to send the Shelter From The Storm approximately $10,000 last season. Way to go ORPS!

We have a monthly get - together on the first Friday of every month at the ES MPR from 8:00 am to 10:00 am — enjoy coffee, and donuts, and "Hangar Talk". If you have any interest in aviation, whether you are a current or former military, commercial, corporate, general aviation pilot, RC pilot, or just someone who likes airplanes, you are welcome to join us. We also welcome those who have worked at Boeing, Douglas, or any other aircraft manufacturers, as well as pilots and flight attendants. It's a great opportunity to meet and socialize with your fellow ORPS neighbors who share your passion for aviation.

Memorial Corner: It is with great sadness that last November Carol Odland passed away after a short illness. She worked in the mailroom for 26 years, 15 as supervisor. Her family including her daughter, grandson, and brother were at her bedside. Her get together group in the resort, including her good friend Lupe, will miss her dearly.
