It’s finally that time of year. Our annual Landscaper’s Summit will be back once again for its fifth year on Oct. 10. As someone who has been deeply involved in the landscaping industry for years now, I can confidently say that this event is one of the most impactful gatherings for professionals in our field, from the most seasoned business owners to the greenest newcomers. This year, we’re introducing plenty of new elements, focusing on a critical yet often overlooked aspect of running a successful landscaping business: leadership . Sure, there’s always a ton of content on sales and marketing at industry events, and we’ve got that covered, too, but we’ve realized that many landscape company owners need more support in developing their leadership skills. Leadership is what holds everything together. It’s the driving force that turns a group of skilled individuals into a cohesive, high- performing team. Resilient and effective leadership has never been more critical as the industry navigates through uncharted territories — like fluctuating costs, changing lead patterns, and new customer demands. Our focus on leadership doesn’t mean we’re neglecting sales and marketing. On the contrary, we’re introducing new angles to these topics, offering strategic business insights tailored to the “new normal” in landscaping. You’ll learn to elevate your customer experience and adapt to the

evolving economic landscape with resilience and innovation. The Landscaper’s Summit is designed to be a hands-on networking event, even though it’s virtual this year. This makes it easy for you to attend and bring your sales team along to learn. We’ll have sessions packed with valuable information, but aside from all our in-depth knowledge and presentations, I often hear that an authentic conversation with a peer is a major highlight of the event for many attendees. This year’s Landscaper’s Summit will include the Landscape Leader of the Year contest. Three finalists will experience an all-expenses-paid trip to Boulder, Colorado, where they will participate in a full-day business consulting workshop with me and the Ramblers. Plus, they’ll go home with a professionally edited video to promote their landscape company. Finalists will also attend the Landscaper’s Summit and present a 15-minute session on what’s working in their business. The audience will then vote to decide who will be the Landscape Leader of the Year. This contest isn’t just about winning a title; it’s about inspiring others in the industry by showcasing your success and the principles of The Tree of Good Fortune. Above all, one thing I love most about the Landscaper’s Summit is seeing our clients grow and connect. There’s always someone just like you, 5–10 years ago, who needs a bit of guidance, and by sharing your experiences and insights, you can help them navigate

3 Easy SEO Tips to Get Your Business Noticed ENHANCE YOUR LOCAL SEARCH VISIBILITY AND BOOST YOUR RANKING

2. Claim and Optimize Your Google Business Profile One of the easiest ways to boost your SEO is through your Google Business Profile (GBP). Ensure your profile is complete and accurate, including your business name, address, phone number, and hours of operation. Positive client reviews on your GBP can also boost your visibility in local search results. 3. Focus on High-Quality Backlinks Backlinks are links from other websites that point back to your own, and they can be incredibly useful for boosting your search engine ranking. Although obtaining high-quality backlinks is simple, they are powerful tools for establishing your site’s credibility. One method is to register your business with local and industry- specific directories such as Yelp, Houzz, and Angie’s List. Having consistent information across these listings helps promote trust and improve search rankings. You can also collaborate with other local businesses and organizations to obtain backlinks. Participating in community events or sponsoring local activities can result in mentions and links that enhance your SEO. These three simple yet powerful SEO strategies will help your landscaping business get noticed by potential clients in your area, ensuring that your expertise doesn’t go unnoticed. If you’re curious about how your website stacks up against the competition, get a free website review at RamblinJackson.com .

Creating a picture-perfect outdoor space might come naturally to you, but Search Engine Optimization (SEO) may not. However, improving your SEO is crucial to attracting clients and ranking higher on Google. Here are three simple SEO tips to help your landscaping business stand out online.

1. Optimize Your Website for Local Search Optimizing your website is crucial to

ensuring your local landscaping business is visible in local search results. When potential clients search for services, they usually include their location, such as “landscaping services in [City].” There are a few essential factors to consider when increasing your local visibility. First, it’s important to create separate local service pages on your website, dedicating one page to each area you serve. For example, if you work in Raleigh, Garner, and Auburn, create individual pages for each region. This will help Google recognize the specific locations you cover, ultimately improving your local search visibility. It is also vital to include location-specific keywords throughout your site, on service pages, in blog posts, and within metadata. Phrases like “landscape design in White Oak Falls, NC” or “lawn maintenance in Cary, NC” clearly indicate where you provide services and help attract local clients.

Ramblin’ Through Nashville

We just wrapped up the Ramblin Retreat in Nashville, Tennessee; it was an experience to remember! Our team, from all corners of the country, flew in for a few action-packed days that combined productivity with a whole lot of fun. We kicked off the retreat with a series of engaging workshops, where we brainstormed new ideas, tackled challenges, and mapped out exciting plans for the future. It was an excellent opportunity to align our goals and

grow as a team. Of course, we didn’t just stay cooped up indoors — we took full advantage of everything Nashville has to offer! One of the highlights was our visit to the Cheekwood Botanic Gardens, where we soaked in the stunning beauty of the landscape and even found inspiration for future projects. We also took a tour of the Johnny Cash Museum, diving into the history of one of country music’s most iconic figures. And let’s not forget the nights spent honky tonkin’ around town, enjoying live music and great company. The retreat wouldn’t have been complete without fantastic food, and Nashville certainly didn’t disappoint with its Southern cuisine. A special highlight of the retreat was our Property Showcase Podcast Shoot at a high-end landscape installation by Master’s

Landscape Design. It was incredible to see top-tier landscaping in action and discuss the creative process behind it. While we’re incredibly grateful for the flexibility of remote work, there’s something irreplaceable about the connections we build when we come together in person. How does your team meet to build relationships, brainstorm, and grow outside of the day-to-day grind? Stay tuned for fun interviews with our Ramblers about their first jobs and favorite moments from Nashville.

Time to Work On Your Landscape Business, Not Just In It GET AHEAD WITH STRATEGIC PLANNING

September is here, and while it might seem like things are slowing down as we head into fall, it’s the perfect time to start working on your business, not just in it. Fall should be about preparing for a strong start in the spring, so let’s dive into five key areas you should focus on now. Audit and Improve Your Website Take a moment to audit your website. How can it be improved? If you’re considering a website overhaul or starting a new project with Ramblin Jackson, now is the ideal time to start. Beginning in September gives you time to prepare for a spring launch, ensuring your online presence is strong during the busy season. Financial Planning and Budgeting Cash flow can feel abundant during the busy months, but it tends to slow down in the fall. That’s why it’s crucial to start budgeting and planning your finances now. Fall is also a great time to set financial goals and create a budget to keep your business on track all year. Company Planning and Leadership Goals Don’t wait until January to set your New Year’s resolutions. Start planning now to hit the ground running when the new year arrives. Use this time to map out your company’s goals and set team

objectives. This proactive approach gives you and your team the clarity and direction to start the new year strong.

Focus on Personal Well-Being To be an effective leader, you need to take care of yourself first. Rob Miller, a recent podcast guest, shared how he reached a breaking point and realized that his business would fail if he didn’t focus on his own

well-being. So make time for yourself, your family, and your overall health to keep yourself and your business strong.

Schedule a Marketing Brainstorm Now is also the time to start thinking about your marketing strategy for the upcoming year. Scan the QR code to schedule a Marketing Brainstorm call with us at

LandscapersGuide.com/brainstorm to plan your lead generation and marketing strategies. Booking a project in September can greatly impact your preparedness and success for the next season. Let’s make this fall the start of something great for your business.
