Painting with Pastels Get colorful and creative with basic pastel drawing and painting techniques, exploring the beauty of the pure pigment of pastels, materials, color theory, and more. Through demonstration and instruction, paint a variety of subjects such as animals, flowers, and travel posters. Students will work at their own pace to complete approximately six to eight projects as well as some smaller associated studies. Class is suitable for all levels. See website for materials list. Pastel Painting: Landscapes, Still Life, and Flowers Move into color using pastels, often a precursor to painting. Using reference images and working with a combination of pastel pencils, soft pastels, and hard pastels on sanded pastel paper, create a variety of still life images and landscapes. Start with the basics and move into more color blending and expression. Live demonstrations provide students with guidance from start to finish. Class is designed for students with some drawing experience. See website for materials list. Gain an understanding of key elements such as composition, light, values, and more, with a focus on still life and figure drawing. Transition to working with oil pastels on pastel paper, enhancing your ability to incorporate color into your work. Then delve deeper into color exploration using oil sticks, concentrating on still life studies to further develop your artistic expression. MOSHGAN REZANIA studied art at the Kamalolmolk School of Fine Arts in Iran. She received a BS from Hunter College in Fine Art and Art History. She has exhibited nationally and internationally. Oil and pastel are her mediums of choice.

Learn essential elements like composition, light, and values focusing on still life and figure drawing. Transition to exploring color through pastel work, primarily in still life studies. Complete a detailed charcoal study, multiple pastel pieces, and a portfolio of artwork in which you can take pride. The overarching aim is to cultivate a deep connection with art, inspiring you to see the world through an artistic lens and bring more beauty into your everyday life.
