Albany Country Club
Manager’s Message
The winter flew by, and it was great to be able to see members enjoying the Club during a time we have traditionally been closed. Between Valentine’s Dinner, Winter Carnival, Evening in Paris, Karaoke Night, and Tennis Platform events members had many opportunities to socialize and have fun. All of us are looking forward to welcoming members back full time as the snow clears and spring rolls in! Our Thursday Prime Rib Night was a great success and we plan to continue this monthly – make plans to join us for our next one on April 21 st . We’re returning to our popular brunch format for Easter on April 17 th and will have a full house. Wine Pairing Dinner, Book Club and All Women’s Kick -Off
Cocktail Party are all on the calendar for this month as well. You can visit our website 24/7 to view and make reservations for all our events. Dinner service has expanded to include Wednesday evenings, making the Grille Room open Wednesday – Saturday evenings until Tuesday, April 26 th when we will offer full dining service from 11 AM to close, Tuesday-Sunday for the remainder of the season. As our dining services resume, I just wanted to remind all members that we are enforcing our Dress Code and cell phone policy. We allow tasteful, appropriate denim in the clubhouse and outside areas. Men should always remove hats before entering any dining room, and all cell phone calls must be taken outside dining rooms into the hallways or outdoors. The full Dress Code is available on our website. Thank you for adhering to these policies and letting your guests know. We’re preparing for an awesome summer at ACC, with the return of our summer camps, swim team, and our traditional family events. Lori Blosser returns as our Camp Director, we’re welcoming Maggie Hartman as our Head Swim Coach, with Eliana Wallock as Pool Director and Assistant Swim Coach. In response to member requests, we scheduled a Red Cross Babysitting Class April 9 th which sold out quickly! If we have enough demand, we hope to offer an additional session later in the year. As the snow melts on the course, we are excited to begin a new golf season. Assistant Golf Professional Andrew Daily will be coordinating the TNT Men’s League on Tuesday nights (beginning April 26 th ), working with the Women’s League on Wednesday nights beginning May 4, and assisting with scoring for the ROB League on Thursdays. Assistant Golf Professional Joel Aptaker joins the team on April 26 th and will be coordinating PGA Junior League and continuing its very successful season from last year. He’ll also be working with the Tuesday Morning Ladies 9-Hole League starting play on May 3 rd , now with a 9 AM shotgun instead of tee times. Jim Bettini has taken over coordinating the ROB League (Retired Old Boys), with heartfelt thanks to Robert Murphy who led the group for so many years. You don’t have to be retired to join in the fun – just a golf member aged 55 or older! Bob Macnary will now be managing locker room operations since Wayne has retired. He is continuing to work on improvements to both men’s and women’s locker rooms, with enhanced guest services, large screen TV in the men’s 19 th Hole, and upgrades throughout the ladies’ locker room. We are pleased to continue to offer the Premier Pricing Program that allows members to purchase merchandise in our shop at cost plus 10%, offering a substantial savings that has been well received by members. Rather than institute a fee for the program as other clubs do to offset the costs, we have introduced a new advertising opportunity on our GPS screens on the golf carts. These are tasteful, discreet ads that reach members without being overwhelming, and limited spots are available per season or the whole year. Contact Glenn Davis for information on pricing and availability.
