Celebrating Tassie’s Top Tourism Towns of 2026
The Tourism Industry Council Tasmania (TICT) has announced the nine unique Tasmanian towns vying for the title of Tassie’s Top Tourism Towns of 2026. This year’s towns include Beauty Point, Deloraine, Legana, and Westbury in the north, Devonport and Stanley in the northwest, Queenstown in the west, and Bothwell and Port Arthur in the south. TICT Chief Executive Officer, Amy Hills, said these awards are about promoting pride in our local towns while showcasing authentic experiences that can only be found in regional Tasmania. “Our towns and regional areas play a critical role in Tasmania’s visitor economy and this program aims to celebrate their contribution,” Ms Hills said. Each town, as part of their entry into the awards, has submitted a short video highlighting their key attractions and experiences, an editorial article enticing people to visit, and an engaging itinerary for a defined target visitor market. “Now, it’s time for the public to have their say and vote for their favourite Tassie towns. It’s really exciting to see over 3000 votes cast already in the first few days. All votes will be collated with our expert judges’ scores, along with a customer review score, to determine the winners.” The town that receives the highest number of public votes will receive the People’s Choice Award, and a winning town will be crowned in each of the population-based categories: • Spirit of Tasmania Top Tourism Town – for towns with a population of more than 5000 • Tasmanian Vacations Small Tourism Town – for towns with a population under 5000 but greater than 1500 • Bishopp Tiny Tourism Town – for towns with a population of under 1500 The winners in the Tiny, Small and Top Tourism Town categories will become Tasmania’s finalists in the search for Australia’s Top Tourism Towns, to be announced at Parliament House in Canberra later this year – where we hope to continue Tassie’s past success on the podium. The public vote will close in four weeks at 6pm on Friday May 8, 2026 and can be accessed here: https://tict.com.au/tourism-awards-programs/ tassies-top-tourism-towns/vote-now/ By voting, you can enter the draw to win a Tassie Winter Getaway valued at over $1500.
