Clubs Tasmania

Clubs Tasmania Launches Women in Sports Leadership Program Clubs Tasmania is proud to announce the commencement of its Women in Sports Leadership Course, with 15 women from across Tasmania stepping forward to develop their leadership skills and strengthen the future of sport in our communities. The program will be facilitated by the Tasmanian Tourism & Hospitality Academy and is built around nationally recognised leadership modules developed by the Australian Sports Commission. The course begins in March and will run through until November, providing participants with an in-depth and practical leadership journey over several months. This initiative from Clubs Tasmania is designed to support and empower women currently involved in sport and those looking to step into leadership roles. Participants will explore key areas such as communication, governance, decision-making, confidence building, and leading inclusive sporting environments. The program also creates valuable networking opportunities, allowing participants to share experiences, learn from each other, and build lasting connections across the state. Clubs Tasmania recognises the important role women play in community sport — from volunteers and administrators to coaches and committee members. By investing in leadership development, the organisation hopes to inspire more women to take on senior roles and help shape the direction of clubs and sporting organisations into the future. Throughout the course, participants will engage in structured learning, practical activities, and collaborative discussions, all aimed at building confidence and capability. The extended timeline from March to November allows participants to apply what they learn in real-time within their own clubs and organisations. Clubs Tasmania is committed to creating stronger, more inclusive clubs and believes this program is a significant step toward increasing female representation in leadership positions across Tasmania’s sporting sector. With 15 passionate women beginning the journey, the future looks bright for the next generation of inspiring female leaders in sport.

This initiative highlights Clubs Tasmania’s ongoing commitment to supporting volunteers, strengthening governance, and ensuring community sport continues to thrive across the state.

Categories will include Volunteer of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Community Club of the Year, along with a range of other awards acknowledging leadership, innovation, and community impact. Community clubs across Tasmania are powered by passionate volunteers who dedicate countless hours behind the scenes.
