Theatre director Satoko Ichihara will chal- lenge gender stereotypes with her ac- claimed play Kitty, named after the be- loved Japanese cartoon character, while the exciting Carolina Bianchi will pres- ent The Brotherhood, representing the second part of her controversial trilogy. The Brand New Classics programming se- ries pushes the boundaries of the “new interpretation” of famous theatre works and will present to the audience a signifi- cantly altered Robin Hood, Mother Cour- age or Richard III, while stages around the city will resound with the words of Elfriede Jelinek, Thomas Bernhard or bell hooks. The first Congress of Vienna will also be held during the festival and will address the topic of freedom in art, culture and wider society.
