„Nemoguć a misija – priča i spektakl“
telji filma uživali gledajući kako savrše- no izvršava sve nemoguće izazove, ali onda je slomio skočni zglob preskačući zgradu u „Razilaženju“ i – zadržao taj snimak u filmu!
Cruise cooperated with interesting di- rectors like the great De Palma, John Woo, JJ Abrams and Brad Bird, on- ly for Christopher McQuarrie to get on board and remain until the end. Hunt has shared his difficult job of saving the world in most of the films in the series with funnyman Simon Pegg and the charming Ving Rhames, while it brief- ly seemed as though he was ready to hand over the franchise to Jeremy Ren- ner, but that fortunately hasn't hap- pened yet. Mission: Impossible’s previous instal- ment suffered due to a bad cinema re- lease date – just a week ahead of the cultural phenomenon that was Barben- heimer (Barbie and Oppenheimer), and by the second week had already lost out on most IMAX format screenings, which is crucial for this franchise and action films generally. Earnings proved disappointing, which is why producers have ensured that The Final Reckoning will be without major competitors for the first few weeks of its cinema run. The first major competitor will only hit screens a month and a half later – with the release of Jurassic World Rebirth – providing Mission: Impossible with am- ple time to take the box office by storm. As the long-awaited finale to the fran- chise, The Final Reckoning will hit cine- mas on 23 rd May, while it will previous- ly premiere out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival. Although Cruise is a “never say never” kind of guy, this eighth film in the series is considered the last. It also cost as much as 400 mil- lion dollars to make, which is among the highest budgets in the history of world cinema. To be fair, Cruise did state in 2023 that he wasn’t complete- ly against the idea of resuming the fran- chise at one point, alluding to Harrison Ford’s return to Indiana Jones in lat- er life, but in his role as a producer he’s also considering the potential replac- ing of himself as the character of Ethan Hunt. Cruise’s dreams back in the ‘80s perhaps revolved around earning re- spect as a serious actor, and not as a glorified stunt man, but as long as new and predictably terrific Mission: Impos- sible instalments keep arriving in cine- mas, Cruise is sure to keep limping hap- pily to the medicine cabinet for more bandages.
