Liquor & Gaming Update

Jonathon Root

Reminder to Licensed Premises Gaming Licence (LPGL) holders Venue Licences are required for any venue operating keno and/or EGMs from 1 July 2023. All Licensed Premises Gaming Licences will expire on 30 June 2023. We strongly recommend submitting your application before 30 April 2023. Supporting materials to help applicants are available from www.gaming.tas.gov.au. As of mid-April, over 100 applications have either been determined or are undergoing assessment. Licences that have been issued are listed on the Liquor and Gaming website Gambling Industry Data | Treasury and Finance Tasmania. Straightforward applications are taking approximately two months from lodgement date to determination date. This reflects the time to assess the application and receive required police checks, credit checks and financial assessments. Once these steps occur, the Commission then determines the application.

Liquor licence fees are overdue

Liquor licence annual fees were payable by 31 March 2023. Unpaid fees incur an additional fee of 10 per cent of the amount payable. This revised amount is now owing and payable by 30 April 2023. Failure to make payment by 30 April may result in the suspension or cancellation of your liquor licence.
