Consequently, the driver, 29-year-old Bilaal Mohammed, of Sainte-Genevieve, Quebec, was arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking under 3kg.The street value of the seized cannabis marijuana is estimated at $1,540. Further investigation revealed the driver was carrying a loaded handgun. He was then charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with Possession of Prohibited de- vice or ammunition for Dangerous Purpose;
Carrying concealed weapon; Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted fi- rearm; Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon; Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Fi- rearm/ammunition; Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.The driver was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Improper number plate light; and Windshield obstructed. Mohammed was not released and kept for a bail hearing scheduled the next day on October 27 at L’Orignal Court.
On the night of October 28, shortly after midnight, Hawkesbury OPP stopped a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire on Concession Road 4 in Alfred-Plantagenet. Dealings with the driver resulted in the discovery of illicit drugs including mari- juana, speed and ecstasy, with an estimated street value of $1,793. The driver, 37-year-old Carl Proulx, of Hawkesbury, was arrested and charged un- der the ControlledDrugs and Substances Act Possession of a Schedule I Substance –Me- thamphetamine; Possession of a Schedule
Traffic stops in Alfred-Plantagenet the week of October 26 resulted in firearm and drug seizures. On October 26, shortly before 9:30 p.m., Hawkesbury OPP stopped a 2010 Toyota Camry on County Road 17 in Alfred. During the stop, the driver was found in possession of illicit drugs. Cannabis marijuana, baggies, packaging and money were found in the driver’s vehicle.

Le coffre-fort de l’Église de Chute-à-Blondeau a été retrouvé par la Sûreté du Québec (SQ) vendredi le 30 octobre dernier, dans un fossé en bordure de route, à Grenville. Le coffre- fort a été retrouvé dans un état fortement endommagé. Tous les documents, datant des débuts de la paroisse en 1887, ont été retrouvés, mais l’argent avait malheureuse- ment été dérobé. La Police provinciale de l’Ontario mène toujours l’enquête à ce sujet. Rappelons que le coffre-fort avait été dérobé le 24 septembre dernier. Le ou les bandits se seraient introduits à l’intérieur de l’établisse- ment par la fenêtre.
