Museum at Prairiefire 5801 W. 135th Street, Overland Park, KS 66223 The Museum at Prairiefire, in collaboration with the American Museum of National History and other cultural and educational institutions, provides access for all to understand and celebrate natural history and science in our region and around the world. Looking for a guest speaker for your next troop meeting? The Wayside Waifs Humane Education team is happy to create customized presentations for your troop. Speaking topics include connections between people and animals, volunteer and career opportunities, general animal shelter and rescue information, and more.

QQQ Girls will join Museum at Prairefire (MAP) scientists as they learn about natural ways water purification can be achieved, while exploring the hard-working MAP wetlands and investigating how water sculpts the land using a hands-on stream table.

Wonders of Wetlands

Girls will tour the wetlands while learning how to identify and mount insects for a collection that they can take home. Transforming energy from one form to another. Girls will work as a team to design and build a marble roller coaster that has two complete vertical loops with three half-sections of pipe insulation and duct tape. This hands-on experience will highlight how energy can be transformed and lost if not nurtured properly.
