THE KING’S BUSINESS

Mother Horton had kindly let me take one of her Bible women to sing for the boys where the soil seemed very rocky. She told me on the way out how she had asked the Lord to give her just the song of all others He wanted sung that afternoon. Did I think they would like it? “What is it?" I asked. "They Crucified Him." Arriving at our barn, a man came up to me; “Will you ask that lady to sing a song for me; one I heard long ago?” “Sure, if she knows it. What is it?” “They Crucified Him,’ was the reply. Does God know everything ? Sometimes the men come to us, thus changing the order of things. Two fine, clean men, both out of work and far away from the Saviour, came one after the other T ABOR conditions are improving great ly, and many of the men who have been without work for months are now obtain ing employment. We are continuing to feed the hungry ones each evening, though the number has somewhat decreased. Since the first of the year, we have had between five and six thousand men, giving them beans, coffee and bread. The result of giving this material aid has been two-fold. It -has broken down much opposition from anarchistic and so cialistic sources, and it has brought a large number of men into personal touch with the Gospel Every man who partook of the food for his body was first given a message for his soul. In these Gospel serv ices we endeavor to give Gospel singing a large place, and the men like to sing. In deed, some of the songs are heartily and fairly well sung by these men who have very little song in their lives.

to our office. It didn’t take long to find the cause of the lack of work and despon dency. We tried to be faithful and had a little talk with Jesus-—definite-—for restora tion and work. Both came almost while we called. Temporary work on the build ing was secured, and now both have steady positions. Almost the first face which greeted us on entering a 'mission hall at Pasadena a few weeks later was one of these dear fellows, faithful in his nightly attendance and splendid reports. The other, attending the Fishermen’s Club, we hope soon to see telling out the story himself. So keep on praying, and still pray. Never let up. Before our mighty God every wall must give way, for the Gospel of Christ is still the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth. Over two hundred have professed the Lord Jesus as their Saviour since the first of the year. Each of these is first given a copy of the Gospel of John, with the re quest to read it and learn John 3 :16. When he has read it and learned that verse, he is given a copy of the New Testament, stamped with the name and address of the mission. They are also given other Gospel literature. A large number of men already have Testaments. These men are scattered all over the country, wherever they can get work, tak ing the Gospel message with them. At our afternoon Bible class we instruct the believers who come, in the fundamen tals of Gospel truth. Thus many go out fairly well established and encouraged to let God and His Word have first place in their lives. At these afternoon meetings we seek to develop the prayer life of the believers also. We' still have the large hall where the
