David hears of God’s blessing upon Obed- edom, v. 12. David goes for the ark with gladness, v 12. He sacrifices oxen and fatlings, v. 13. He danced before the Lord, v. i4. He brought the ark up with shouts of joy, v. 15. Questions: Did David bring the ark up in God’s way? 1 Chron. 15:2, 13, 15. Did God help the Levites ? 1 Chron. 15: 26. What dedicatory Psalm did David give to the musicians for the occasion? i Chron. 7:36. What other ceremonies did lie provide for? 1 Chron. 16:37-43. Whose name do we magnify? Heb. 2:12. What sacrifices do we offer? Heb. 13:15. PRACTICAL POINTS.' (1) God will have His own way with His own work. (2) Abinadab was no believer, there fore the ark brought him no blessing. (3) God maintains his character of man ifesting His displeasure of man’s irrever ence. (4) When the ark (Christ) rests, there the .blessing is bestowed. (5) Dancing is not dangerous if it is done before the Lord. (6) “How shall the ark of the Lerd come to me ?” v. 9. Answer: “By sacri ficial blood,” v. 13. (7) Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up ye everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall come in.

He was afraid to go further in his plan, v. 9. He carried the ark to the house bf Obed- edom, v. 10. The ark continued there for three months, v. 11. The (blessing of God icame upon the household, v. 11. Questions: Was David’s plan justifiable? Numbers 17:12, 13; Luke 5:8,9. Was David wise in postponing the taking of the ark to Jerusalem? Ps. 2:11; 4:4. Is it well for us all to cultivate a godly fear? Prov. 6:6; 1 Cor. 10:12. Was Obed-edom a Levite ? 1 Chron. 15 : 17, 18. Had he a rightful place as keeper of the ark? 1 Chron. 15:24. What made the ark a blessing to his home? Ex. 25:22. While he kept the ark who was his keeper? Ps. 121:5. Did the blessing include all that he had? 1 Chron. 13:14. Is there a blessing for the household where Christ is supreme? Prov. 3:9, 10; Malachi 3 :10. (4) Bearing the Ark in God’s Way, vs. 12-15.
