GUNGAHLIN BUS STATION MAJOR PROJECT
Stoddart were approached by Road ACT to develop a modular, large span bus shelter design for the Gungahlin Bus Station upgrade in the ACT. Working with Guidelines ACT Civil Contractors to deliver the project, Stoddart installed a total of 92m of architecturally inspired shelters and walkways. The final aesthetic is eye-catching at almost 4m high and 5m in total span, with a striking perforated plywood timber soffit flanked by bronze powder coated cladding. Stoddart’s innovative approach to design and fabrication, and expert installation and project management were vital to integrating a huge range of features onto the bolt-together galvanised steel frame. These include IP rated downlights, DDA seating, CCTV and PA speakers, illuminated lightboxes, and recycled glass-bead acoustic panels behind the plywood soffit to achieve the acoustic values required.
