Eventually, he started Chiro1Source and became an entrepreneurship success! I thought about this story recently when I stumbled upon a mushroom booth at the Boone, North Carolina, farmers market. The booth was selling mushroom-based tinctures, extractions, and a wide variety of mushrooms! I was fascinated by the options — the grower had a tincture to promote sleep, another for energy, and a third for overall well-being. I hadn’t thought about mushrooms in years, but after that day in Boone, I started seeing them everywhere! I read in Forbes about lion’s mane mushrooms that fight cancer, reduce high blood pressure, keep blood sugar in check, and literally slow down aging. Then, I saw a cancer center talking about reishi mushrooms. Apparently, they can boost your immune system, make you stronger, increase your endurance, and even lower your cholesterol! Mushrooms are having a moment right now, so maybe it’s no surprise they’ve made their way into chiropractic. there’s one particular venture I’ll never forget: The time he grew mushrooms.
In one of his magazines, Dad read an article about how lucrative it could be to grow gourmet culinary mushrooms and sell them to restaurants for a profit. The growing process looked easy, and there was even a number included in the article you could call for help starting your wholesale business. Dad was in — and pretty soon, our garage filled up with plastic bags, straw, and mushroom spores! I was about 13 then, so I helped Dad boil the straw, stuff it into the spore-filled bags, and hang the bags from the garage ceiling. We poked holes in the plastic and sprayed the bags down every day to keep them moist. Pretty soon, mushrooms started to grow through the holes!
Within a few weeks, our garage looked like the set of a sci-fi movie.
Then, things went off the rails.

Meanwhile, the chiropractor can regain control of patient care, generate more revenue, and put that revenue back into their practice. For many chiropractors, those perks make it worth transitioning. However, the writing has been on the wall for a long time now where fewer and fewer areas of the country offer good insurance benefits. Dr. Bodzin and Holly both recommend you plan accordingly and begin the process of collecting more cash, so if insurance disappeared tomorrow, you would be more than okay.

That’s why we’re sharing a sleep strategy that works naturally with your brain and can help you to fall asleep in less time than it would take to eat a bowl of cereal.
The strategy is called “brain tapping,” and it involves using your hands to create “repeated rhythmic patterns,” which our brains naturally love . The auditory rhythm will trigger the brain to “switch over” to the parasympathetic nervous system. If this sounds familiar, you’ve likely heard of it before. Evolutionarily, our bodies have two states: fight or flight and rest and digest. The sympathetic nervous system controls our body during a fight or flight situation, and the parasympathetic nervous system controls rest and digestion. So, to fall asleep more quickly, we want to “trick” our bodies into activating our parasympathetic nervous system, or the rest and digest state.
lightly using your hands with palms facing down four times, with about one second between each tap and alternating between each hand. You don’t have to hit your legs hard, just loud enough to hear the sound. Do this for 30 seconds. Then, after following the four-tap rhythm for 30 seconds, you’ll slow the taps even further to just two taps with about two seconds between each tap. Do this for about a minute or a minute and a half. Finally, you will slow the tapping to almost three seconds between each tap. You’ll do this for about four minutes, and during this phase, you also close your eyes and take slow deep breaths. After those final four minutes, you’ll be surprised how tired you feel and how quickly you can fall asleep. Sweet dreams!
