Other scans and tests Bone scan - is a nuclear medicine scan that may be used to assess bone health – including breaks (fractures), osteoporosis and cancer. Please note: Plain x-ray, MRI / receptor specific scans (eg Gallium or FDG-PET) may be preferred to diagnose, assess and monitor bone metastases.
