Potential side effects of endoscopic therapies

Somatostain Analogues Somatostatin is a substance that occurs naturally in the body. It helps to control the release of certain hormones into the blood stream – mostly those released by neuroendocrine cells (normal or cancerous). Somatostatin analogues (SSAs) are drugs that mimic the behaviour of somatostatin – so can help to reduce and control abnormally high hormone levels that can be released by well- differentiated neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) SSAs are also research proven to help slow down tumour growth rate in Grade 1-2 NETs.
