Clinical Nurse Specialist: the role of the CNS is wide and varied, however, they are expert, experienced, qualified nurses who are involved in your care to ensure you, and those close to you, have access to information, support and advice about your diagnosis and treatment. They can help you to make sense of what may be a large amount of unfamiliar information, and support you in decision-making about your care, treatment and follow up arrangements: including signposting and referral to support organisations such as charities / social services (e.g.,benefits). They may visit you during an in-patient stay / also provide follow-up services through clinics / telephone consultations - and be a point of contact for helping to manage symptoms and other health-related concerns.
