NCUK Virtual Patient Handbook

Blood and Urine Tests There are a number of blood and urine tests that may be used to asse monitor your health, alongside those used to help diagnose neuroend cancer, or to see how you’re responding to treatment. Some can be done at GP surgeries, others need to be done in hospita specialist treatment centres. Your care team will let you know what to before any blood test. Please note that not all tests may be altered by the presence of neuroendocrine cancer - and that there are other conditions or reason results may not fall into the ‘normal range’. Despite this, blood / urine tests, can be incredibly useful, in combinati other tests, to lead to an accurate diagnosis and can be useful as a m tool over time and during / after treatment. Not all tests may need to be undertaken - this may depend on your ty neuroendocrine cancer. Others may only be undertaken once or less often than others, for exa blood group. Your blood group may only need checking at onset of investigations a maybe only be checked again, to re-confirm, before a procedure or tre that may require blood transfusion e.g. major surgery.
