Anchor Sustainability Report 2022-2023

Residents have shown an enthusiasm for and have a real interest in environmental sustainability, with many attending focus groups and contributing helpful knowledge and expertise to the process of developing our Environmental Sustainability & Net Zero Carbon Strategy over 2022- 23. We are in the process of establishing a Residents’ Environmental Forum to contribute to the implementation of the strategy. Community Grants Our Community Grants Fund

is topped up by bequests left from Anchor residents. The fund supports a range of activities and projects such as local social events or redesigning an area of a location. In 2022-23, the Community Grants Panel approved 25 projects, totalling a £52,500 spend across housing and care services. These funds have been used to support the wellbeing of our residents and examples of the projects funded range from new tea rooms, garden furniture and green spaces to cinema rooms and day trips to the beach. 17 of these projects have been gardening related, including funds to purchase raised flower beds to be inclusive to all residents, garden furniture for social events and activities and projects to create green spaces to sit and enjoy wildlife.

A proportion of the funds have been used to support our Be Connected initiative. From setting up our Together Choir, inviting residents to come together through song, to our ‘Chatty Bench’ initiative to get residents talking, all with the aim of reducing loneliness and social isolation. Funds were used to support social events to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee at 30 locations.
