At Hampton Crescent, Leeds we were proud to install a new gazebo thanks to the Resolve 100 project. Hampton Court is a 40 unit extra care location where 25% of its residents are wheelchair bound. The structure has been built outside the communal lounge to allow easy access and promote regular use. The design has created a sheltered outdoor social area, coupled with a low-level sensory garden allows our wheelchair users to have access. They can be actively involved in the year-round planting and upkeep of the garden area, aiding in their mental wellbeing and mind stimulation. All the waste soil from the excavation where the gazebo is located has been spread across the existing grounds and seeded to reduce the carbon footprint of the project by eliminating the need for skips remove the waste soil from site. Residents said: “It’s a well-deserved opportunity to have somewhere nice to sit and have a chat in the fresh air”
“It’s a good way to get to know our neighbours within the scheme, it’s great” At DeLacey Gardens, an extra care scheme in Pontefract, a coffee shop has been created making great use of what was a rather bare area of the communal lounge. The aim here was to provide a similar ambience to that of a high street coffee shop and promote social gathering and interaction.
