Carpenter Alongside of th e lives of Florence N ightingale and Edith Cavell, belongs this story of Staff-Captain K ate Lee, of the Salvation Army; This sketch of her life and work is a simply told record, yet one aflame w ith th e power and ro mance of evangelism. With__a devotion nothing could assuage and a courage naugh t could daunt, K ate Lee fought her way to her appointed end. This is a fascinating story based on facts taken largely from the experience of th e au tho r and a well-known lady- evangelist, who figures in the n arrative as “Mrs. B ingham .” It is a graphic account of a real revival in a Methodist Society in England, begun in prayer and • undertaken in opposition to the wishes of the m inister, whose own preaching left much to be desired. His confession and resto ration are brought about, how ever, as are also the conversion of many prom inent sinners in the com m unity and the consecration of others, who had grown cold. The revival does not stop w ith the departure of the evan gelist bu t continues to spread un til all opposition is broken down and the de lightful romance which run s through the story is brought to a happy consumma tion. This book will in terest converted and unconverted alike and should have a glorious mission. Price, $1.25.
