seemly? Would the world by our ac tions consider us on its side? (17) Have we wronged any* one and failed to make re stitu tio n ? Or, has the spirit of Zacchaeus possessed us? Are we con tinually crossing bridges before we come to them? (19) Are we guilty of lu stfu l though ts? Do we allow our m inds to harbor impure and unholy imagina tions? These are the things both negative and positive th a t prevent th e working of God in the m idst of H is people. Let us be honest and call them by their rig h t name. “ SIN” is .the word th a t God uses. And the sooner we adm it th a t we have sinped and are ready to confess and forsake it th e sooner may we expect God to hear us and work in m ighty power. Why deceive ourselves? We cannot deceive God. Then let us remove the obstacle, the hindering thing, before we take ano ther step. “ If we would judge ourselves we should not be judged.” “ Judgm ent m ust begin a t the house of God.” This has been the history of revival work all down th e centuries. N ight afte r n igh t sermons have been preach ed and no resu lts obtained, un til some elder or deacon bursts out in an agony of confession, and going to th e one whom he has wronged, craves forgive ness. Or some woman who is a prom inent worker breaks down and in tears confesses publicly th a t she has been gossiping about some other sister or is not on speaking term s w ith the person across the aisle. Then when confession and restitu tion have been made, thq fallow ground broken up, sin uncovered and acknowledged, then and not un til then, th e revival comes. 100,000 SUBSCRIBERS IN 1923!
