King's Business - 1923-03

T HE K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S Do you try to be careful about little things? I Does the Lord make use of pennies? Does He w ant us to be careful not to waste anything? The lesson today is about the same people on the lake shore. They crowd ed around Jesus and wanted Him to be th eir King, but He knew th a t the only reason they wanted Him to be their King was because they though t He could feed them . He went up into a moun ta in to pray. His followers, th e men th a t were called His disciples, got into th eir little boat to go back to the other side of the lake. The name of th is lake is Galilee. Jesus loved to be th ere w ith His disciples. A storm arose and the wind lashed the w ater of . the lake into waves and the men rowed and rowed against the wind. It was dark and they were tired and could not make any headway. All at once they saw something th a t looked like a man, walking on the water. They were afraid. They had never seen a man walking on the water. P re tty soon the man cried out, “ It is I; be not afraid .” Then they knew it was Jesus. They were glad to take Him into the boat,' and what do you th in k ?— th ere was the land and they were safe. Jesus, when He was up on the mountain, kept GREAT, GREAT IS NOTHING! They flatten the name of Christ into Christianity. They behead th e devil by cutting off the first le tte r of his name and w rite it evil; and th e la tte r imper sonality is to be destroyed by th e former impersonality. They profess to base such expectation on the Bible, but if

His eye on the boat, and saw the storm coming, so He went down and walked out on the w ater to them. You remember what the strange man from the w ilderness called Jesus,— “The Lamb of God,” and you remember what He did a t the wedding,— took w ater and made it w ine;' and how He fed the people. Well, He is God’s Son and can do everything. He made th e stars, all the birds and the trees, He loves little children and He can look rig h t down from heaven and see us, and He can help us. Whenever we are in trouble, if we believe in Him, we can pray and He will come to our help. He can do anything th a t we need. If you -were out in a boat and a storm came up, would you pray? If yoif were going to cross the stree t where the autos were moving fast, would you pray for Him to keep you from being run over? Does He like to help little chil dren? Do you th ink the men in the boat thanked Him for coming to help them? Do you th a n k Him for the meals you have and for the clothes you have? He loves to have children ta lk to Him. Do you try to help others? Do you help mother? Memory Verses: (2 0 :2 1 ); “ It is I; be no t afraid * * * Then they w illing ly received Him into the ship.” both Christ and the devil are im per sonal, then the predicted throne of the one and the abyss of th e o th er are mere ideas. Then logically men themselves — all men, good and bad— become ideas. Then likewise God and th e universe are ideas. If so, we can only shout w ith the Hindoo devotee: "G reat, g reat is nothing ¡’’y -W atch word and T ruth.
