Introduction

The LSE was founded in 1895 and has grown to become one of the foremost social science universities in the world. A specialist university with an international intake, LSE’s reach extends from its Central London campus to around the world. The School has a cosmopolitan student body, with around 11,600 full time students from 148 countries and staff of just over 3,000, with about 49 percent drawn from countries outside the UK. In 2021 LSE became the first Carbon Neutral verified university in the UK. The post holder will be responsible for operational aspects of sustainability and play a coordinating role in the delivery of the wider School’s Sustainability Strategic Plan, embedding sustainability across all aspects of the School’s activities, through the development and implementation of School wide sustainability projects, initiatives, policies and procedures. The role offers an individual the opportunity to progress their career within a team that is recognised as being industry-leading whilst leading a diverse range of sustainability strategies in the heart of London.
