Year 9 Bulletin 15.03.24

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 9

It has been another busy week for Year 9. This week we had our assembly about International Women’s Day learning about all of the different influential women throughout history who have done incredible things for the advancement of society. Congratulations to our Year 9 football team who won against Hampton High last week. Mia N (9SPI) was player of the match as she scored a hatrick. Great overall performance by the team, completely dominant from start to finish. I would like to say a big well done to Poppy in 9STH who received some brilliant news last week that she has been nominated for Richmond Councils Achieving for Children ‘Outstanding Contribution to your Community’ youth award! Congratulations to 9EJO for getting the most epraise points this week. They are followed by 9FWD. Well done! A reminder about student punctuality. We do recommend that students arrive at school at 8:30 to allow 5 minutes to get to their form time. Form time starts at 8:35 and we do expect students to be punctual for that. We appreciate your support with this at home. Next week we have our celebration assembly. We will be celebrating all of the wonderful Year 9 students for their hard work in school. The awards fall under the categories of the school ethos: Enjoy, Achieve, Empower.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

“One Day” by David Nicholls

“One Day” by David Nicholls is about Emma and Dexter who meet one night on the 15th of July 1988 but go their separate ways the next day. However, the novel follows both of them and their story together every 15th of July for the next 20 years. The Netflix adaptation of the book has recently been released and if you have enjoyed the show, I would really recommend the book because the book version gives you a unique insight into the story.
