With These Tips From PostureZone’s Dr. Weiniger Get Your Patients Invested in Their Posture!
URCE EARNS GROWING HIROPRACTIC ON’ AWARD WON!
You know the science: The posture your patients use right now will determine the health of their muscles and ligaments later in life. But just because you know the importance of posture doesn’t mean they understand it! Most people resist even basic steps like buying better office chairs. But there is a way to get your patients invested in improving their posture — and we’ve invited Dr. Steven Weiniger (DC, FIANM, and creator of the CPEP and StrongPosture® programs) to tell you all about it. Dr. Weiniger is an author, speaker, and posture expert who helps promote May as National Posture Month. Here are his top three tips for getting patients to care about posture. 1. TAKE MORE (AND BETTER!) POSTURE PICTURES. “When you have their picture, you have their attention,” Dr. Weiniger says. Ideally, you should take your patients’ photos in front of a heavy-duty, professional Posture Grid in your office like the one offered by PostureZone. Once you take the photo, point out how their posture measures up on the grid and how their aching hip, knee, or back is affecting it.
Josh posted a photo of the award to our Facebook page (Facebook.com/Chiro1Source) as well as his personal Facebook profile. Amazingly, we got dozens of sweet comments from our clients and partners. One commenter wrote, “These folks are the absolute ‘Best’!!” and another replied, “Absolutely! Love them! Glad my first ever intern at Cleveland [Chiropractic College] agrees!” Another comment that touched us was this one: “No surprise here, wonderful people that are all about customer service & SUCCESS! Many blessings to the team.” If you left a comment on that post, thank you so much for your kind words and support! Sometimes we get so far into the weeds of doing our daily work that we forget
to step back and look at what’s working, what isn’t, and the impact we’re having. Winning the “Fastest Growing Sales in Chiropractic Distribution” award helped us do that and truly made our month.
2. MAKE THE PROCESS COLLABORATIVE. When you take the photo in front of the Posture Grid, use Dr. Weiniger’s 5 Magic Words: “Show me your best posture.” This gets the patient involved in the process and documents what their version of “standing tall” looks like! To really get them invested,

offer to take the photo on their phone. If they have a copy, they’ll be empowered to go home and show their family — you may even win a new patient! 3. LEVERAGE THE POWER OF THE POSTURE GRID. Dr. Weiniger recommends positioning a Posture Grid in a private part of your office and a public space like the waiting room. This gives your patients ownership over the process and makes taking posture pictures an activity! Once you show them how to use the grid, they can invite others to their arrival party to check their posture on the grid. “Teach them not by pathologizing, not by exploiting, but by empowering them and building relationships,” Dr. Weiniger says.
