Year 7 Bulletin 15.03.24

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

Thank you to parents, carers and students who completed the survey about our transition programme. It was pleasing to receive so much positive feedback and we will look closely at areas where we can improve. Richmond Youth Election fever has swept Year 7 this week as we have inspected the manifesto’s of the candidates, decided upon the key issues and cast votes accordingly. The sign-up sheets for the Year 7 Easter bonnet parade are now open. Students can let their form tutor know if they want to get involved in this fun event. They can enter individually or as part of a group from their form. The Easter Bonnet parade is a popular event in the Year 7 calendar and always unleashes a wave of creativity, fun, chocolate and a good singsong! Congratulations to the Y7 rugby team who won the London Youth Games. A tremendous achievement! Well done also to 7FFR who won the Y7 5-a-side football tournament. It was a tightly fought affair with a high standard of football throughout. This week’s leaders in the house point charts are 7SHU, 7EDA and 7FLE. Good work everybody! Finally, we wish our students and their families well during the month of Ramadan.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” is a fast-paced and captivating mystery novel which fol- lows the life of a young girl Pippa who grew up in a small town which has become tainted with a murder. Despite the case being closed, she chooses to study the case as her topic for her final year project and begins to unveil secrets that wish to stay deeply hidden. I loved watching the story unfold and leftover fragments of a murder case left open click together through the compelling and relatable character of Pippa. I would really recom- mend it for anyone looking for a gripping and challenging read, which explores second guessing the truth and looking deeper than the surface. ~ Recommended by Marina, Year 11 Student
