‘AVERITT CARES ABOUT MY CAREER’

New Frontline Leader Started As Truckload Driver

Jack spent about three years in Truckload before moving to a Dedicated driving role. After that, he worked on the dock and as a local driver before transferring to our Jackson MS warehouse. In 2022, he began to get more of a look behind the scenes in an operations support role. As a result of the experience he gained there, Jack was promoted to frontline leader in June. “I knew that there was always something else I could go to and learn and broaden my experience within the company,” Jack says. “I started out as a Truckload driver, and I knew that I didn’t have to stay there. That gave me the boost I needed to understand that Averitt absolutely cares about my career.” Jack credits our overall culture as the reason he’s been able to grow. “It’s the support I’ve received from my leader, how they’ve coached me up, and how we have an open-door policy,” Jack explains. “There are so many factors, and they all roll into the culture of Averitt.” ‘THE AVERITT CULTURE IS A GOOD ONE’ Fort Myers frontline leader PHILIP BAUMHARDT also came to Averitt 20 years ago, starting as a part-time dock associate. Once he went full time, he became Jackson MS associate JACK HARRISON recently celebrated 20 years with Averitt, and during that time he’s seen firsthand our commitment to promote from within. Jack began his Averitt career as a Truckload driver, and he was recently promoted to a frontline leader role!

a city driver and also served in shuttle for several years. In 2018, Philip was promoted to his current role. “Averitt has provided well for my family,” says Philip, who is an Army veteran. “It’s a great place to work, and the uniforms are also important to me.”

Philip encourages other associates to learn as much as they can about other roles so they can be ready when opportunity knocks. That’s a mindset he also tries to model for his fellow Fort Myers teammates.

“I try to show our drivers some of the inbound screens and teach them so they can grow in their careers,” he says. “I want them to understand that the Averitt culture is a good one.”

PODS Driver Shares Her Experience To Refer People Like You When her former carrier went out of business, ANGELA LECOMTE wanted to join a team that had a proven track record of stability. She’s found that and more with Averitt. And Angela knows what she’s looking for in People Like You . “Dependability,” she says. “I want people who are willing to go that extra mile.” Averitt’s strong track record has been an outstanding referral tool for Angela. “The reliability of working for a debt-free company is important,” she explains. “Also, our benefits and our 401(k) are top of the line. And we have a family atmosphere. My dispatchers are always willing to work with me to get me home if I need to be home, or if I need to stay home an extra day for doctor’s appointments or other things that come up.”

GROWING OUR PARTNERSHIP

Virco Services A True Power Of One Display One of the reasons we offer an array of services is we know that when customers experience the outstanding quality and professionalism we deliver, they’ll want to grow the relationship and make us their one-stop transportation shop. Virco is a perfect example of that Power of One mentality. The Conway, AR-based school furniture producer – which has been in business since 1950 – began as an LTL customer. Virco has made its satisfaction known during the last 15-plus years by also turning to us for dedicated, truckload, expedited, warehousing and international services. “We have a wonderful relationship with Averitt,” says Scott Presley, Virco’s Director of Warehousing. “They’re not just a name. They are very responsive to any issues we have, any questions we have or anything they can do for us. Averitt can solve any problems and take care of what we need.” MIKE MONIN of our regional leadership says our strong bond is all about trust. “Just like in life, people do business with others they like and trust,” Mike explains. “Trust is vital to growing your business, retaining that business, and helping you get through the challenges that come along the way.”

Learn more about our relationship with Virco at Averitt.com/Virco. Averitt.com/Virco.

The relationship we’ve built over the years is one reason Virco recently came to us for a much-needed solution. “We started talking ahead about our sales ticking up,” recalls Paul Gall, Virco’s Vice President of Logistics. “We discussed the additional trailers we may need from a ship-and-hold standpoint. We wanted to know our options to get the product closer to our customers and make it easier to make the delivery. There were lots of different tools that Averitt was able to use to help step up and make it happen.” On top of our many service options, Virco is thankful for our professional image. “The appearance of Averitt’s drivers is very important,” says Virco logistics analyst Maggie McClellan. “They all have uniforms, and they’re clean and neat. That goes a long way, especially delivering to schools where there are children involved. We want the best appearance we can get, and Averitt provides that.” Paul says the total package we offer bodes well for the future. “The open collaboration we share allows us both to understand the growth opportunities, the pain points we face, and find solutions for those as we go forward,” he says. “That’s going to serve both companies well.” T m

Always Averitt

One reason we’ve remained stable in our 52 years is our commitment to continued growth. The investments we make in our five service units, facilities, equipment, technology and people give us a competitive advantage that truly differentiates us in the transportation industry. It’s also important we stay firmly committed to the culture and values that have helped us achieve success. One of those values is our plan for the future, which we call Always Averitt. This ensures our unique culture thrives for generations to come. Our future has never been and will never be about just one person. It’s always been about the thousands of people who have joined this team and shared our vision. Always Averitt specifically addresses how our team progresses over the long-term. This includes our leadership structure, our Averitt Charities program and ensuring we stay independent, all of which benefit our customers and our associates. LEADING INTO THE FUTURE An important part of Always Averitt is consistency in strong leadership through our Management Team. This team consists of all our vice presidents, each of whom has demonstrated their long-term commitment to Averitt and excelled in their responsibilities. Members of the Management Team have been selected – and always will be selected – from our best leaders, coaches and teachers. They have worked diligently to develop our associates in reaching their full potential, advance the Averitt culture and help us remain independent. Additionally, this team will continue to maintain a clear vision for the future through innovation, creativity, development of our people, investments in our infrastructure, and a steadfast commitment to remaining financially independent for generations to come. This plan ensures our team will always be led by people who are October marks our team’s anniversary. Since the very beginning, we’ve built a tradition of serving our customers, supporting our associates, and securing our future. It was true in 1971, and it stands true today.

dedicated to doing things The Averitt Way.

AVERITT CHARITIES Another important part of our long-term plan is ensuring and growing our Averitt Charities program, which includes Averitt Cares for Kids and the Team Up Community Challenge. We are firmly committed to nurture our communities, our associates, and our company through the good works of Averitt Charities. Our plan also specifically spells out how our team will continue to make matching contributions to Averitt Charities in recognition of our associates’ accomplishments, participation in community service projects, and life events. ENSURING A STABLE, CONSISTENT FUTURE TOGETHER In addition to addressing leadership structure and Averitt Charities, our Always Averitt statement demonstrates our commitment to staying private, independent and in control of our own destiny. It further ensures our associates benefit through the unlimited potential of Profit Sharing – the sky’s the limit! Every single person who has ever worn Averitt Red is a part of our story – so our plan guarantees you pride of ownership for generations to come. The plan isn’t linked to any one person. It’s linked to every associate – past, present and future. Because at Averitt, OUR DRIVING FORCE IS PEOPLE. T m
