A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 13

Year 13 students have had a really busy week. On Tuesday, all Psychology students were invited to attend a Psychology Dreaming Workshop with Professor Mark Blagrove after school. The students who were able to attend found it really fascinating. Also on Tuesday, as part of their A Level in English Literature, the Year 13 students paid a visit to The Globe to watch Othello. Upon their return to school on Wednesday, they all said how great and enjoyable it was. Furthermore, on Wednesday after school, A Level Drama students completed the practical part of their A Level exam. They have now completed 60% of their course. Well done! On Wednesday and Thursday, all Year 13 students who have opted to undertake the EPQ, had to present their final presentations to a teacher audience. These presentations were the culmination of months of work and staff were really impressed with not only the depth of the students’ understanding of their chosen topics but their confident delivery. On Thursday, Year 13 Geography students attended a revision workshop that has been organised by tutor2u. I am sure they found this really helpful and it will support their ongoing preparation for their A Level Geography exam.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

“Letters From The Underground” by Fyodor Dostoevsky

“Letters From The Underground” by Fyodor Dostoevsky (translated from Russian) is a deep dive into the human psyche from the perspective of a man who is overly negative and is criticising himself. It is in the form of a “confession” and explores the complexity of the man’s mind. I would recommend this novella to those who want a challenging but rewarding read, that will draw you in and intrigue you.
