Sanjiv Ramdanee: "Maradiva Villa Resort & Spa was renovated during 2023, following a design by Hirsch Bedner Associates, and reopened on 1 rst November: a real technical challenge. We've come a long way since my father, Sir Kailash Ramdanee (who origi- nally gave the management to the Taj Group) crea- ted the hotel, continuing his ambition to be the best at everything he did! In 2009, Maradiva was five years old and we took over the management. It wasn't easy, because we weren't originally hoteliers. So we decided to diversify our activities into lifestyle, in order to put our stamp on the world of luxury. We have invested in prestigious events to promote Maradiva to celebrities: at Royal Ascot, the Cannes Film Festival, Hollywood and the Mauritius Classic Tour. We have often sponsored polo events. Today, Maradiva is a reflection of our experiences in sumptuous establishments around the world, inspi- red by our discoveries. The villas with individual swimming pools are 163 m 2 at the entry level (the largest are 345 m 2 ). There's nothing better in Mauritius: the bathroom is large, there are several showers, both inside and outside, and the living space is remarkable. We offer our guests the spa- cious accommodation they are used to in their own homes, with all the attention they would expect from a five-star hotel. The vision we have for Maradiva is taking shape, with developments such as Shoba, developed by a French company, MJ Développement, and adjoining
