year after year we see some familiar faces; they make a great contribution to the quality of the dis- cussions, and the APG family makes the trip. Jean- Louis Baroux, Chairman and founder of World Connect, is delighted: "It's great to see the commit- ment of the participants to this event. Many people fly 15 hours each way, and just as many on the return journey, to experience the three days of World Connect by APG. " One of the keys to success lies in the preparation of the event by the APG teams, who never leave any- thing to chance. The welcome is excellent, the res- ponsiveness is top-notch! All that's left to do is find the right setting for the participants, who are always gathered in the same place, a prestigious hotel: you don't spread yourself too thin at an APG World Connect. Time shared is precious.
do something, we do it on behalf of the airlines we represent. We are the intermediaries and the sellers. Selling seats and cargo all over the world is our core business, as are the partners in the APG network, who over time have become members of a large family. The pandemic crisis has shown us, if proof were needed, just how strong this family is. Growth is back, and we're counting on improved ser- vices around the world to fuel it. Not just at the level of the airlines, which have understood that they need to refocus on quality, but also at the level of the entire APG network."
With everyone in agreement on the fundamental importance of air trans- port for mankind, what remains to be done is to define the contours of what it will be in the future. Anne Rigail, CEO of Air France (portrait page 39, top) explains how the company sees the future of air transport: "The challenge we are facing at Air France, especially in France and Europe, but also worldwide, is decarbonisation. We absolutely need technology for this environmental transition. It's very expensive, but we'll get there by renewing our aircraft fleet at a sustained pace. The second level of decarbonisation is sustainable fuel: however, the type of sustainable fuel we are currently using, based on biomass, is not very advanced. We know that we will need technologies to improve it, becau- se biomass will not be unlimited. We will need hydro- gen to improve the use of biomass. And finally, we will need synthetic fuels that are not yet fully deployed. There aren't many e-fuel plants in opera- tion at the moment. So we know that technology is essential to the change we've initiated." www.apg-ga.com
